Mission of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc

"The objective of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, is to stimulate the ambition of its members; to prepare them for the greatest usefulness in the causes of humanity, freedom and dignity of the individual; to encourage the highest and noblest form of manhood; and to aid downtrodden humanity in its efforts to achieve higher social, economic and intellectual status."

         "With the fraternity motto: "First of all; Servants of all; We shall transcend all", men of Alpha Phi Alpha have always striven to uphold the light and greater mission of the Fraternity. That is, men of Alpha have always pursued great achievements in their collegiate and professional careers, have always served their communities as educators, volunteers, and care-takers, have served their country as service-men and activists, have always pursued righteous avenues in their personal lives, and have always put the needs of others before them as champions of larger, more worldly causes."
         "Men of Alpha are distinguished, dedicated, intellectual, personable, dynamic and always transcend expectations. Although Men of Alpha follow in the footsteps of the organization's founders, upholding the mission for almost a century, they are also opinionated, focused, goal-oriented, but most of all, brotherly. The beauty of the motto: "First of all; Servants of all; We shall transcend all" is that it holds a distinct meaning to everyone, and that every Brother can express its value in a distinct way.
         Although the Jewel Founders have built the foundation for the House of Alpha, the Brothers who abide within uphold that structure every day."

THE IMPORTANCE OF SCHOLARSHIP

        "Alpha Phi Alpha and scholarship go hand in hand. An Alpha Man is first a college man, and his great boost is scholastic excellence in his chosen field of endeavor."
      "Alpha Phi Alpha grew into a Fraternity with one thing always in mind-scholarship. The Fraternity has grown from seven men in 1906 to over 150,000 today. Times have changed and Alpha Phi Alpha has kept abreast with the times, but there is only one thing which Alpha Phi Alpha had never relinquished, and that is scholarship."
